Crystal died in The Woodlands, TX on Tues. Dec 8 at the young age of 58.
She and I became friends immediately when I'd attended a local Home Extension Club meeting back in 1996.. She "chose" me to be her friend after hearing me recite "This is the day that the Lord hath made; let us rejoice and be glad in it". She simply came up to me and said "You're a Christian...and you are now my new friend"!
She and I had gallivanted around our area for years since she lived nearby. We shopped together, did water aerobics, walked and talked; she introduced me to Walgreens . Attended several churches until we found the right one for us.
Crystal loved the Lord with a passion. She mentored me thru several difficult times. Her only daughter eventually brought her to TX a few years ago to live w/her and her husband and two children. Crystal absolutely adored them with all her heart.
"Bunny", one of her beloved pets, was so tame due to the loving care she gave him. "Chica" her dog died a few years ago and was also very well loved.
Having several health problems, she overcame some, had been weened off some meds and had begun to "work out" in a gym, feeling really good about herself, losing weight at the same time.
After surgery for an aneurysm, she developed another and never regained consciousness. Her daughter chose to removed the ventilator as she would have been in a vegetative state, which we all know that it was certainly not her dying wish.
I feel in my heart that Crystal is dancing with Jesus...and she used to so often say. She was looking forward to being w/our Saviour. Although we dubbed her "Crystal Clean", we know that she is "White as Snow" in Heaven.
I'll miss her very much.

Its such a mixed bag...I am so glad she knew the Lord and you know you will see her again and for all her friendship gave you here...but I am sorry for the pain of losing a beloved friend, Diane....hugs and love being sent your way...thanks for sharing about her...what a special gift you two had in each other.
I lost a friend at about the same age...I still miss her fun, relaxed, faithful ways. |

Crystal had a heart of gold. We were together very often...or on the phone...or at church..or at bible studies...or shopping. She literally took the place of a sister.
It's so wonderful that her daughter and grandchildren had some special times w/her. She was right "in" there with her grand kids...doing it all with them.
Granted, after she moved away. we were limited to a few phone calls here and there....I was guilty of being "too busy" oftentimes to call. But I knew her time w/her family was treasured.
Gosh, this is a hard one for me to handle right now.

My belated sympathy Diane. I've never checked into this forum before since I have neither extended nor intended family. 58 years was the age of my mother when she died. It's too early. It's hard to take. _________________ Born to be Weird.

Thank you dear ones.
I am in contact with her daughter, which is healing for us both. Not ONE day goes by when Crystal's presence does not envelope me. She was a friend for 12 years. Just always "there", ya know?? _________________ CNBC Co-founder with Kimberly
